Production Log

By Fern Disney.
24/11/16: Completion of 500 word plot and annotations.

24/11/16: Completion of Script.

24/11/16: Completion of Location planning and what places we were intending to use. It was until much later on when we actually gained Recce shots in displaying our locations. Thus Allowing us plenty of time before shooting to discover new places in these ideas- for example we want to use a park so this gave us time to look for a good park to use.

5/1/17: Completion of the research for props. Even though this was completed on this date, this was an on going task maximising which props we were going to actually use.

5/1/17: Completion of the Shot List.

8/2/17: First test shoot complete within a taxi, filmed on a phone of people walking in London at night. Even though this was our first test shoot, it enabled us to learn that this style wasn't completely successful and may appear out of place to the rest of the music video.

8/2/17: The second test shoot was taken within a smoking shelter.

7/3/17: Our third test shoot filmed within the exam hall- this is the location which he have continued to decide to use within our work. This shows how the test shoot helped us work out our location because before this we weren't completely sure which room we were going to use and we went in there on a limb just to see what it was like and we ended up liking this location.

10/3/17: Completion of the Location Scouting Sheets, including Megan's house and the exam hall.

10/3/17: Completion of all personal/ talent release forms.

14/3/17: Completion of the editing treatment of our test shoots

14/3/17: Completion of the making of the exam paper props.

17/3/17: First shoot day within the exam hall.

21/3/17: Second shooting day around Megan's house doing filler shots.

23/3/17: Completion of online storyboard using "storyboard creator" and presented within a Prezi

24/3/17: Audio permission completed.

6/4/17: Smoking shoot completed and edited within the music video

9/4/17: Shoots traveling on a train and around a train station

13/ 4/17: Shoot of drinking with friends playing cards.

13/4/17: Completion of final edit of digipak.

Magazine Layout

For my magazine, I wanted to have a simplistic appeal to it. Only including very little writing so my audience know what the advert is for and that is all.
This advert by Ed Sheeran is my influence of the creation of this magazine. This is because I believe it gets straight to the point and nothing is lost. My reason behind the image that I have chosen is because this is the image I used for my digipak- the whole reason for my advert is for the advertisement of my digipak single, therefore I thought it made sense for the image of the magazine to be the same image- therefore when the digipak would go out into shops, the public would know from this magazine what to look for in the front cover. When I edited this image, I overlaid two images for someone sticking out their tongue revealing a tablet. I think this is relevant and links to my work quite clearly because there are shots very similar to this in my music video and is therefore advertisement for the upcoming music video release. Furthermore, across the whole music video there is a warm orange tone overlaid across all the shots so I thought it worked better if I made my image overlaid with an orange tone- it fits better in my music video.

Digipak Skelton layout

Using Adobe Indesign I created two different skeleton layouts in order to display my ideas for my digipak. I used photos online for this task as I wanted a way to display my intentions. For the first digipak, I decided to do a plain and simple colour pattern- mainly black and white with the contrast of red nails. However, from the results of the digipak, more people favoured the second digipak- including bright colours. I didn't particularly like this image as such but I wanted to include an example- I have decided to use a photo of a mouth but using the conventions within my music video, I decided to include the prop of a pill on the mouth.

Digipak Treatment

This is my final digipak cover which I have decided to use.
The reason I have decided to use this text is because it is very similar to the style of font in which we use within our music video. Furthermore, I find it interesting as it is bold and I think it is eye grabbing which is what I want in a title font.
This is the colour which I used for the font. To get this colour I use the colour pipet on photoshop to use the colour of the lips with the blue crossed with the red which made this colour. I think it works better that I chose the colour of the lips because originally, I was going to use a black font, although I found this look too out of place. Therefore when creating the font for my whole digipak, I used the same style but also the same colour because I didn't want anything to appear odd.
When editing, because I over laid two images to get an almost 3D effect, I found it quite difficult to cut the lips from the skin, so a way I found that worked to back the background as bright as possible was by using the dodge tool, I highlighted all around the lips which resulted in this which I find has worked really well.

These are the layers that created my digipak. As you can see, I mainly edited the background image of the red/orange lips and then overlaid the blue lips then adding a vibrance layer on top of the whole image to flatten it together a bit.

Resultant Digipak Images

These are the two images in which I over laid in order to create my digipak.
